Requesting a correction
Use our contact form and select “Correction request”. Include the article URL, the specific statement you believe is wrong, and the correct information with a reference where possible.
How we handle requests
- We acknowledge correction requests and log them against the article record.
- An editor checks the disputed statement against the original source material.
- Where the article is wrong, we amend it and record what changed and when.
- Where the source itself was wrong, we say so and attribute the discrepancy.
- Where the article is supported by the source, we explain our reasoning.
Material corrections
Substantive changes to facts, figures, names or conclusions are marked on the article with the date of amendment. Typographical fixes that do not alter meaning are not annotated.
Removal requests
We consider removal only in narrow circumstances, such as a legal requirement or a serious factual error that cannot be remedied by amendment. Disagreement with accurate reporting is not grounds for removal.
Version history
Every article retains an internal version history so that an editor can see what an article said at any point since publication.
