Alkagesta has been approved to participate in the Platts Market on Close (MOC) assessment process for EMEA naphtha physical, the company confirmed in an announcement from Malta dated 7 August 2026 and published on 11 August.
Approval followed a review by Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, which published a subscriber note confirming that Alkagesta Ltd would join the EMEA naphtha physical MOC.
The MOC process is the industry-standard methodology Platts uses to assess benchmark commodity prices. Participation requires review and approval by Platts editorial, and all bids, offers and transactions submitted are subject to adherence with Platts editorial standards. Platts considers information from credible and creditworthy market participants and publishes all relevant information from those participants accordingly.
For a trading house, inclusion is a credibility marker as much as an operational one: it places the firm's bids and offers inside the window that sets the reference prices used across physical contracts and derivatives in the region.
Alkagesta said the inclusion reflects the growing scale and commercial credibility of its naphtha trading activity across European energy markets. Naphtha is a key petrochemical feedstock and a component of the wider petroleum products value chain in which the company trades across multiple geographies.
The approval follows Alkagesta's own published analysis of the naphtha complex in 2026, which examined petrochemical oversupply, European cracker competitiveness and the strength of gasoline blending demand relative to petrochemical feedstock demand.
Alkagesta trades petroleum products, marine fuels, biofuels, fertilizers and carbon instruments from Malta with a presence across multiple international offices.
