Shell, GTT, and Lloyd's Register are collaborating on a new conceptual design for a hybrid-electric LNG carrier, according to Offshore Energy. The initiative focuses on a 200,000-cubic-meter vessel.
The primary objective of this joint effort is to decrease emissions associated with LNG transportation. The design aims to achieve this environmental benefit without compromising the vessel's cargo space.
This partnership brings together expertise from an energy major, a containment system specialist, and a classification society to advance sustainable shipping solutions within the LNG sector.
