The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index increased by 2.1% on Thursday, reaching a value of 3,107. This marks the sixth consecutive session of gains for the index, which now stands at its highest level since June 3, as reported by Hellenic Shipping News.

The index monitors the rates for various vessel types, including capesize, panamax, and supramax ships. Its recent performance indicates a notable upward trend in the dry bulk shipping market.

The capesize index, a key component of the overall dry bulk index, also saw an increase. These vessels are typically used for transporting large cargoes, such as 150,000-ton shipments of iron ore and coal.

The consistent rise in the index reflects a strengthening in the demand for dry bulk shipping services, impacting global trade and commodity transportation.

This sustained growth suggests a positive short-term outlook for the dry bulk freight market, as indicated by the index's performance over the past week.
