According to Rigzone, Eni has finalized a 25-year agreement with Venezuela's state-owned oil company, PdVSA. This agreement is aimed at relaunching activities at the Junin-5 heavy oilfield.
The Junin-5 heavy oilfield is situated in the Orinoco Belt, a region known for its significant heavy oil reserves. The field is reported to hold 35 billion barrels of oil.
The deal signifies a long-term commitment by Eni to the Venezuelan oil sector. The focus is on resuming operations at this substantial heavy oil asset.
This development could impact future crude oil production from the region. The agreement's duration suggests a strategic partnership between Eni and PdVSA for the coming decades.
