Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned energy company, has commenced receiving its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the U.S. Gulf Coast, according to Offshore Energy. This delivery is part of long-term supply agreements established with Cheniere, a company based in Texas.
This initial U.S. LNG shipment is a crucial component of Equinor's broader strategy to substantially increase its presence in the global LNG market. The company aims to double its worldwide LNG portfolio by the end of the decade, specifically by 2030.
The move highlights Equinor's commitment to scaling up its LNG ambitions, leveraging supply from the U.S. Gulf Coast to support its growth targets. This expansion is expected to bolster its position in the international energy trading landscape.
