Alkagesta is expanding its European footprint across three product lines at once: aviation fuel, low-sulphur marine fuel and advanced biofuels, according to a company statement reported by Romania Insider on 14 May 2026 and by Ukrainian trade title Neftrynok on 11 May 2026.

Since February 2026 the group has supplied Jet A-1 aviation fuel through the NATO pipeline system in Europe. It began with Brussels and Frankfurt and now operates across five airports in Germany and Belgium, a build-out that places it inside the same infrastructure that came under pressure from increased military throughput in April.

In marine fuel, Alkagesta was among the first suppliers in the central and eastern Mediterranean to offer ULSFO to regional customers. Following the introduction of emission control area rules in May 2025, the company delivered more than 500,000 tonnes of low-sulphur marine fuel across the Mediterranean during 2025, according to its ESG report.

The biofuels division is being widened through feedstock sourcing, regional logistics and certified supply capability, with the Romanian operation positioned as part of the group's Eastern European renewable fuels strategy. "Since launching our dedicated biofuels desk in 2025, we have built a certified, end-to-end trading platform across Europe and beyond, combining strong market access with disciplined risk management to deliver reliable and scalable solutions across the biofuels value chain," said Anthony Guida, biofuels trader at Alkagesta.

Used cooking oil recycling is a growing part of that platform. Alkagesta invested in a UCO processing facility in 2022; collection has since risen from 734 tonnes to 1,860 tonnes and processed secondary raw materials have nearly tripled to 1,780 tonnes, helped by broader collection coverage, better logistics coordination and UCO supply from Malta within a regional circular economy network.

The company says it now operates in 48 countries with 17 offices and representative locations, and manages more than 700,000 cubic metres of fuel storage capacity across Europe and Asia. The Romania Insider item was published as a press release; figures are the company''s own.
