Kongsberg Maritime ASA has entered into an agreement to acquire Steerprop, a Finnish company, according to Hellenic Shipping News. Steerprop specializes in the design and manufacture of azimuth propulsion systems.
The Finnish firm has established a strong market position in Arctic propulsion technology. Its systems are supplied for various demanding applications, including icebreakers and polar research vessels.
Steerprop's propulsion systems are also utilized in offshore support vessels. This acquisition aims to integrate Steerprop's specialized expertise into Kongsberg Maritime's operations.
